NWO BioPhysics 2022
Trapped reentry: a dormant source of arrhythmia

The conference:
NWO Biophysics is an annual Dutch conference on physics of life. The conference presents an exciting program covering a broad range of scientific topics varying from microscopy and cell biology to biomedical engineering. It is the very heart of Dutch research groups in these fields of expertise, creating a place to explore, push boundaries and celebrate interdisciplinary science together. The program of NWO Biophysics consists of keynote presentations, various plenary sessions with invited national and international speakers, parallel sessions and poster presentations.
Background
Being a scientist in between fields makes it sometimes difficult to find an appropriate conference to present your work at. The NWO arranged for specific meetings to be organized that lie on these borders between disciplines, just like the Dutch BioPhysics conference. Last year (2021) was the first time I visited this meeting and it pleasantly surprised me. I gave an oral presentation on my work around the biological defibrillator. Unfortunately, my talk is not available online, but the list of speakers is still available, and a short summary of the conference can be found underneath.
Impact
This year, I was again selected to present my work at the Dutch BioPhysics conference. Just like the previous time I was very happy to be able to present for an audience of physicists, biologists, engineers, and others. I was especially pleased that the meeting this year will be in person instead of digitally, thereby having the opportunity to meet fellow researchers face to face. The topic of my talk was the trapped reentry phenomenon and recent progress associated with it. You are able to see me in action underneath.
