To get to know Desmond even better, have a look on his personal website/blog
Desmond is a motivated new postdoc that will work alongside me for the upcoming 7 months.
He obtained his Master of Science in Theoretical Physics at the Institute for Computational Plasma Physics at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany. There, in silico, he localized defects in idealized heart muscle tissue from intra-cardiac electrograms using the adjoint state method.
Next, Desmond started his PhD training in autumn of 2020. He joined the Mathematics of Cardiac Arrhythmias research group of Dr. Hans Dierckx,, at KU Leuven (Belgium) and the Laboratory of Experimental Cardiology of Prof. Dr. Daniël Pijnappels at the Leiden University Medical Center (the Netherlands).
After completing his PhD, he now started a postdoc on my NWO Open Mind grant project "Personalized cardiac fortune telling through virtual time-travel". He will develop new computational tools that are faster than real-time in order to timely predict oncoming heart rhythm disorders.
