Summer 2024: Vietnam
During the summer holidays, we went to one of the hotter and more humid places on earth, namely Vietnam. And this for one specific reason: rice terrace trekking and caving!
Besides the world famous Sapa, Vietnam also has rice terraces that are much less touristy and have the benefit of seeing some jungle landscape as well. These terraces are located in the regions of Mai Chau and Pu Luong. We did a three day trekking in the scorching heat throughout these beautiful landscapes were we stayed at local families in the evening. A once in a lifetime experience!
Vietnam hosts the largest caving system in the world in the Phong Nha Ke Bang national park. We chose to do the four days, three nights Wild Tu Lan Cave Explorer tour. This tour was absolutely worth all of its money. It was absolutely spectacular and better than anything we could have hoped for. Two days away from civilization (no cellphone reach, no WiFi, no running water, no nothing) with beautiful nature. A recommendation for all of you!
